Connecticut is a wonderful place to live, with gorgeous winters and short but enjoyable summers, but as quaint as Connecticut is, it is not immune to clergy abuse, child sexual abuse, priest abuse, or abuse by members of trusted religious groups or affiliations. Catholic abuse or abuse by members of kids groups such as the Boy Scouts of America cannot be tolerated. Those animals that commit such child abuse should be punished, because the perpetrators of child sex crimes not only hurt and betray the trust of the child and the community, but they are a serious danger to society at large.
A perfect example of how far reaching the ramifications of clergy abuse or child sex abuse can reach took place in Connecticut when Jeffrey Libby killed his father and was convicted and sentenced to a sixty year jail term for committing the crime. How is this murder tied to Catholic abuse? It is directly related to sex abuse by the clergy because after sentencing, it came to light that Libby was abused by a priest while attending a Bristol Catholic church. In fact it was discovered that he received a settlement from the Hartford Archdiocese which had been kept secret. Obviously Libby was affected by the sexual abuse, and the Hartford Archdiocese felt some responsibility, or why would they have reached a settlement? The settlement was reached over sexual abuse allegedly committed in the 1980’s, and 20 plus years later, Libby was a murderer. There are ways to find justice if you were abused by the clergy.
